13-Oct-2010 - Tim CONGDON West Midlands HUSTINGS
The sixth hustings of the 2010 UKIP leadership campaign were held in Birmingham on Wednesday, 13th October. At the hustings a young UKIP supporter, Jason Daly, took videos of Tim Congdon's contributions to the debate, including the one-minute answers to questions. These have been "uploaded" (if that is the right word) on YouTube and one ("No secret deals") is shown below. It explains that - when Tim and Gerard Batten are leading UKIP - any so-called "electoral deals" with other parties must be endorsed by a vote of the entire party membership. (Other YouTube videos can be accessed from the right-hand side bar on this page.) Gerard and I (i.e., Tim) are hugely grateful to Jason for his help.

Hi,
at The Hustings where Nigel Farage has control being advised of the questions in advance and having staff research the pre prepared answers it is Farage who has all the 'edge' with the gullible and the naiive.
In reality Farage has led UKIP in lurches and bounces ever since his brief exploratory foray with The BNP when Alan Sked kicked him out of UKIP. It seems Farage would seek out ANY platform, however sordid , to feather his nest with his personal cult of politics.
Farage now has a new line at The Hustings:
"Finally I want to ask you to consider whom Cameron would most fear as UKIP leader me or any of the other three candidates?".

Tim Congdon could hardly have had his case put more forcefully. A former economic adviser to Margaret Thatcher as UKIP leader would cause Cameron much harm. With Congdon as leader UKIP can become a force for good in British politics. Many Tories are unhappy with the Tory/Lib 'coalition' and Congdon would give them a better home than they have a present. Major defections, perhaps even Tebbit himself, could be anticipated.
WHO WOULD CAMERON REALLY FEAR THE MOST?
The answer is Congdon.
ACADEMIC,
ECONOMIST,
AUTHOR,
JOURNALIST,
AND
A VERY SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSMAN.
He hasn't an equal among his rival candidates.
He wants no money from the EU, he has now intention whatever of becoming a MEP, He wants to be given four years to complete the task of making UKIP a UK based political party, and if elected he will contribute a personal £100,000, annual donation to UKIP, to finance his own London office. He will free UKIP from a dependency on the coffers of the EU.
